What is the story of this church?

Organized June 4, 1934 after a lengthy tent meeting.

Twenty-two charter members.

Rev. James Brown was the first pastor.

The first services were held in a garage building.

In 1935 Ray Haufler mortgaged his herd of cattle, enabling the church to purchase a lot and a house.

Construction of the present facilities was started in 1972.

University Avenue and First Church merged on May 3, 1973 . Rev. Cooper was called as pastor.

In September of 1983 the church began construction of the Family Life Center Building .

Major renovation of facilities began in 1998.

Renovation of Family Life Center began in 2003.

Nineteen pastors have served First Church of the Nazarene since 1934.

Dr. Harold W. Custer has been Senior Pastor since July, 2007.

Rev. Kay Custer has been Associate Pastor since July, 2007.
